CONCLUSIONS: The inhibitory effects of H2 on the apoptosis of macrophage-derived foam cells, which take effect by suppressing the activation of ERS pathway and by activating Nrf2 antioxidant pathway, might lead to an improvement in atherosclerotic plaque stability.
