Exploring disparities in surgical recommendations for patients with primary intramedullary spinal cord tumors: an analysis of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database from 2000 to 2019

CONCLUSIONS: In patients with spinal ependymomas and nonependymal spinal gliomas, recommendations for surgery appear to be unaffected by patient sex, race, or income. Survival disparities appear to exist among unmarried, male, Black, and lower-income cohorts. Continued initiatives to identify drivers of disparities while improving health equity in this patient population are needed.PMID:38518290 | DOI:10.3171/2024.1.SPINE231093
