Early Disease Recurrence Following Post-operative HPV ctDNA Directed Active Surveillance in Oropharyngeal Carcinoma – Outcomes of a Prospective Pilot Study
Human papilloma virus cell-free tumor DNA (HPV ctDNA) may be able to detect minimal residual disease prior to clinically apparent recurrence. We hypothesized that undetectable post-operative HPV ctDNA can be used to select patients for active surveillance and conducted a pilot study (NCT05307939) omitting or delaying adjuvant radiation until patients develop detectable HPV ctDNA (cohort A).
