Clinical and demographic profile of herpes zoster ophthalmicus: A hospital-based study of 1752 Indian patients

CONCLUSION: HZO more commonly affects males in the seventh decade of life and is predominantly unilateral. It more commonly affects those from higher socioeconomic strata and metropolitan regions. Half of the eyes have mild or no visual impairment, while others have moderate to severe impairment. Institution of antivirals within 72 h is associated with less severe involvement.
