Analysis of the effectiveness of combination antimicrobial therapy for Legionnaires' Disease: A nationwide inpatient database study

Legionnaires ’ Disease is a type of pneumonia caused by Legionella spp. such as L. pneumophila, L. longbeachae and L. anisa., and accounts for 1–10% of community-acquired pneumonia cases 1. It is a severe form of pneumonia with a reported fatality rate of 6.4%4. Multiple reports have shown that a delay in th e administration of appropriate antimicrobials is associated with worse prognosis in Legionnaires’ Disease 2.
