Primary Care Physicians Are Key to Improving Dementia Care and Access

A report from the nonprofit research organization RAND estimated that by 2028, about 1.6 million people in the US with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer disease will wait an average of more than 1.5 years to see a dementia specialist, such as a neurologist or geriatric psychiatrist. These wait times are 3 times longer in rural areas.
