The association between mechanical CPR and outcomes from in-hospital cardiac arrest: An observational cohort study
Cardiac arrest is a highly morbid condition that affects nearly 200,000 hospitalized individuals each year in the United States [1 –4]. Apart from high-quality chest compressions and early defibrillation for cardiac arrest with initial shockable rhythms, few interventions have consistently demonstrated benefit for this critically-ill population [5]. Given the public health importance of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA), ther e is an urgent need to identify effective therapies.
