Autologous Stem Cell Transplant for Multiple Myeloma: Impact of Eliminating Day of Rest on Incidence of Complications and Re-Admission Rate
As part of a length of stay and bed utilization initiative, we eliminated the day of rest for our multiple myeloma patients between administration of their conditioning chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) (Ali& Al Hadidi, 2022). Our primary endpoints were rate of complications and rate of re-admission within 30 days of discharge. Our secondary endpoints were time to neutrophil engraftment from ASCT and length of stay. During our quarterly quality meetings, the multidisciplinary team discusses metric and performance improvement projects.
