Increasing burden of Rheumatic Heart Disease in Children: Challenges persist despite a century of experience

Rheumatic heart disease (RHD), although considered preventable, continues to be a major public health problem worldwide, the heaviest burden borne by low and middle income countries. Its onset in childhood and adolescence results in significant morbidity and premature death, if not treated in time.
