Coronary artery bypass grafting is superior to percutaneous coronary intervention for all women subgroups

We read with interest the recent article by Hannan and colleagues.1 The authors performed a propensity-matched cohort study of New York State's cardiac registry from 2012 to 2018 and evaluated the outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) versus percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in women with multivessel coronary artery disease. PCI with everolimus-eluting stents was associated with a greater 6-year risk of mortality. In addition, it was associated with greater risk of major adverse cardiovascular outcomes (composite of death, myocardial infarction, and stroke), myocardial infarction, and new revascularization.
