Letter to the editor: Clinical evaluation of Sepsis-1 and Sepsis-3 in infective endocarditis

This study reported the Sepsis-3 criteria were independently associated with both in-hospital and 6-month mortality among patients with IE. In contrast, the Sepsis-1 criteria did not demonstrate a similar association with the in-hospital and 6-month mortality in these patients. Moreover, the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score exhibited greater discriminative ability compared to the Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) criteria in accurately predicting in-hospital mortality in IE patients.However, we would like to add a few more points concerning the study's validity [1].
