Short-term outcomes of bariatric surgery in patients with inflammatory bowel disease: a national analysis

CONCLUSIONS: Patients with obesity and IBD faced low rates of adverse outcomes following bariatric surgery. There is an increased risk of gastrointestinal obstruction for patients with IBD undergoing RYGB. Given its safety profile, bariatric surgery can be utilized as a weight loss intervention for the growing proportion of patients with obesity and co-morbid IBD.PMID:38030456 | DOI:10.1016/j.soard.2023.10.006
