Effectiveness of the triglyceride-glucose index and triglyceride-glucose-related indices in predicting cardiovascular disease in middle-aged and older adults: A prospective cohort study

Globally, there has been an increase in cardiovascular disease (CVD) owing to a shift in social structures and an increase in the aging population.1 In the United States of America, coronary artery disease (CAD) caused the death of 382,820 individuals in 2020, making it one of the primary causes of CVD-related deaths.2 In addition, 7.2% of adults aged 20 years (approximately 20.1 million individuals) had CAD. In the same year, nearly two out of 10 deaths from CAD occurred in individuals under 65 years of age.
