Anxiety but not menopausal status influences the risk of long-COVID-19 syndrome in women living in Latin America
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus two (SARS-CoV-2) infection is associated with multiple symptoms and reactions included in the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and long-COVID-19 (post-COVID-19, post-acute-COVID-19, or persistent COVID-19) syndrome [1 –3]. This prolonged syndrome affects 10 % of subjects surviving the acute infection, has a complex pathophysiology, and is more prevalent among females gender and older age [4,5]. The most common complaints are breathlessness, fatigue, and brain fog, although the clinical manifestations, severit y, laboratory findings, and evolution are highly variable [4,5].
