Cytokine storm and severe hepatitis in pregnancy due to herpes simplex virus 2

AbstractCase presentationA pregnant woman developed hepatitis due to a herpes simplex virus 2 primary infection with a severe systemic inflammatory response. Treatment with acyclovir and human immunoglobulin was given and both mother and baby survived.PurposeWe provide the first description of the inflammatory response associated with herpetic hepatitis in pregnancy.
