Cost of skin cancer-related dermatological care is higher in transplant recipients compared with nonimmunosuppressed patients
To the Editor: Transplant recipients (TRs) require chronic immunosuppression, increasing the rate of skin cancer, most notably cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC).1 A study assessing billing data of organ transplant recipients noted dermatological care for organ transplant recipients is expensive, primarily from CSCC-related costs, but these data were limited by lack of a control group.2 We sought to compare annualized cost of skin cancer-related care in TR and nonimmunosuppressed controls.
