Maintained ERAS compliance and outcomes after major colorectal cancer surgery in a designated cold site hospital during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic
Background: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic overwhelmed health systems during spring 2020. The concept of cold site hospitals emerged: infection-free centres providing essential non-COVID-19 health care. In March 2020, Ersta Hospital implemented a cold site infrastructure to provide safe and scaled up imperative colorectal surgery for the Stockholm Health Care Region. Few data have been published on the feasibility and efficacy of the cold site concept and effects on ERAS compliance and related postoperative outcomes.
