Survival of patients with End Stage Kidney Disease

Nephrol Ther. 2023 Aug 28;18(S2):35-39. doi: 10.1016/S1769-7255(22)00565-X.ABSTRACTOn the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the REIN (French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network), a summary work on the contributions of the national French ESKD register was carried out. On the issue of survival of ESKD patients, the following key messages were retained. The annual mortality rates of ESKD patients are relatively stable even though patients are ageing and increasingly have diabetes or obesity. These changes are probably linked to improved practices. Cardiovascular diseases and infections are the main causes of death. The year 2020 was marked by an increase in mortality due to the SARS-CoV-19 infection that was particularly severe in these patients.PMID:37638506 | DOI:10.1016/S1769-7255(22)00565-X
