Novel Quantification Of Myocardial Perfusion To Assess Microvascular Function

Introduction: Assessment of myocardial perfusion plays a significant role in diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making in patients with coronary artery disease. Until now, perfusion could only be assessed using non-invasive imaging. We combine invasive measurements of absolute blood flow and non-invasive assessment of vessel-specific myocardial mass to derive an alternative approach to evaluate perfusion in mL of blood per min per gram of myocardium. The present study focused on the feasibility of this method and aimed to estimate myocardial perfusion in coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD).
