Prognostic Significance Of Automated Epicardial Adipose Tissue Quantification From Lung Cancer Screening CT

Introduction: Heavy smokers are at high cardiovascular (CV) risk. Routine lung cancer screening chest computed tomography (CT)-based quantification of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) may help stratify CV risk beyond clinical risk factors and coronary artery calcium (CAC) score. We investigated the prognostic value of EAT volume and density measured automatically from low-dose non-ECG-gated non-contrast chest CT for lung cancer screening on all-cause and CV mortality.
