Letter to the editor regarding: “Self-administered transcranial direct current stimulation for pain in older adults with knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled study”

We read with great interest the recent manuscript published by Martorella et al. [3] entitled “Self-administered transcranial direct current stimulation for pain in older adults with knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled study”. The authors investigated the effectiveness of home-based self-administered transcranial direct current stimulation in older adults with knee osteoarthriti s. The importance of this type of study is unquestionable, since knee osteoarthritis covers a considerable part of the worldwide older adult population, and remote transcranial direct current stimulation could facilitate the establishment of strategies to increase patients' adherence to treatment.
