The role of ChREBP in carbohydrate sensing and NAFLD development
Nature Reviews Endocrinology, Published online: 13 April 2023; doi:10.1038/s41574-023-00809-4The carbohydrate-responsive element binding protein (ChREBP) senses intracellular carbohydrates and activates many target genes, including those crucial for de novo lipogenesis in hepatocytes. This Review discusses mechanisms that regulate ChREBP activity, the role of ChREBP in nonalcoholic liver disease (NAFLD) and emerging NAFLD drug targets.
