73-Year-Old Man With Dyspnea and Cough
A 73-year-old man presented to clinic with dyspnea and cough of 2 years ’ duration. His medical comorbidities included type 2 diabetes well controlled with metformin and glipizide as well as hyperlipidemia treated with rosuvastatin. His cough was initially productive of small amounts of phlegm in the mornings but progressed to a bothersome dry cough occurring intermit tently throughout the day. Cough affected his ability to carry out conversations, with minimal improvement after trials of benzonatate, gabapentin, and antacids.
