An Exploratory Study Of EMG Biofeedback For Episodic Migraines

The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and potential effectiveness of an 6-week virtual EMG biofeedback intervention for patients with episodic migraines. Patients with episodic migraines completed validated baseline and post-intervention assessments of migraine frequency (assessed by the MIDAS), Migraine impact (assessed by the HIT-6) and anxiety and depression (the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale). In addition, we assessed, using surface EMG, the muscle tension in the frontalis, temporalis and trapezius muscles at each session.
