Contextualizing the 'Marburger Lenchen', a controversial specimen in anatomy and obstetrics

CONCLUSIONS: The current narrative of the so-called "Marburger Lenchen" has nothing to do with the specimen in the collection. In fact, the latter was prepared in 1922 by order of the former professor of obstetrics, Wilhelm Zangemeister, who later published the case in his textbook of obstetrics. The ethical consequences of the changing ontological status and origin of the specimen and its public display are discussed.PMID:35987424 | DOI:10.1016/j.aanat.2022.151989
