An Interview with Bryce David Salazar, author of She Sees Metaphors

This week is the turn of Bryce David Salazar and his first novel ‘She Sees Metaphors’. Bryce is a Michigan native, who can be found roaming the city with Chinese takeout and coffee. He has a thing for cats and telling cute stories about his girlfriend. What is one thing that no-one would usually know about you? The biggest secret that I can think of is probably that I’m not actually lactose intolerant, I just find most dairy products to be aesthetically awful. There’s something about cheese that people just love. The average person tends to go into a kind of frenzy when I admit that I find it disgusting. I discovered in my early-twenties that if I claimed to be lactose intolerant, people were sympathetic and wanted to lament my pizza options, rather than attack the very fibre of my being. Are there any occupational hazards to being an author? Papercuts, I suppose. Do you think there is any elitism attached to the different genres of books, both in the fiction and non-fiction worlds? There are definitely some noses raised high. I won’t pretend that I don’t find it frustrating and ridiculously short sighted, but I try not to take it too seriously. Have you ever written naked? You can write with clothes on? Are you jealous of other writers? I tend to be jealous of any writer that’s mastered the craft of the sentence.
