A snippet of data from athenahealth has confirmed what has been urban myth for years: More men get vasectomies the week of March Madness than any time during the year. The Watertown-based IT company looked at a slice of its medical record data since 2015, studying the volume of vasectomies during an average week versus the opening week of March Madness. Of the 235,000 vasectomies made during that time, the average week had 279.5 vasectomies. During March Madness , that number rose to 364.
