Baylor vs UTSW vs McGovern
UTSW (pre-match): Pros: - Great in-house residency matches - well-renowned/prestige - Dallas is great Cons: - Heard the curriculum is incredibly intense (does not align with USMLE so lots of self studying has to be done) - internal ranking - Stressful environment? - Students have told me that it makes things “harder than they have to be” Baylor: Pros: - Amazing reputation/competitive matches - fully P/F with no internal ranking - TMC brings great clinical/research (Houston) -... Too many resources for step 1
I know it's been asked a million times but I'll go ahead and give the 1,000,001 thread post here, Step 1 prep idea in order of importance: Uworld Pathoma B & B Sketchy Pharm Sketchy Micro Anking (for these specific resources) That being said, I just don't see enough time in the day to effectively do all the anking cards even though i've heard its a must. Any thoughts on this list? Any thoughts on anking and not being able to finish cards? I'm under the impression that uworld is non... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Update on Not Reporting Step
I both called ERAS and emailed NBME about it. ERAS is a pretty straightforward you don’t have to report. The NBME email was interesting. They sent an email back saying “withholding all pertinent info is a match violation, including all board scores” but in the same email they said you should ask individual programs if they require USMLE and COMLEX, or if they’re just fine with COMLEX. I emailed them back and they said that if a program requires one, I can only report one, and if a program... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Releasing USMLE Transcript on ERAS
I'm a DO student applying to general surgery. I have 4 strong LORs, have surgery research, and have been doing well on my sub-Is. However, I recently found out I barely failed Step 2. I passed Level 2, but it won't mean much to surgery programs. Passed Step 1 and Level 1 on first attempts (both unscored). I plan to apply to a backup specialty, but I don't want to give up on surgery since I have been preparing so much to apply for surgery. I will retake Step 2 soon. As a DO student, I don't... Free most useful question banks for med school
Hello. I am Moe,a 5th year medical student in Japan. I would like to study medicine in English, since my dream is to work as a doctor overseas. I’m particularly interested in medicine in developing countries,so I am not sure if I need USMLE for my career at the moment. I was wondering if there were any helpful free resources to use, as I would like to keep the budget low. I am currently using passmed, but it is really hard to make a plan without particular exams as a goal. It would really... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Reset UWorld or do Amboss
I'm shooting for a 90th+ percentile Step 2. I have 6 weeks for dedicated, and before dedicated even starts I'm getting around 255ish on predictmystepscore.com I'm probably going to only use 4 weeks, so trying to figure what to focus on. My fear with reseting UWorld is it's not going to give me anything new. My fear with Amboss is the questions seem to be quite different from Step and I fear it's going to alter my test taking strategy. Thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Stuck at 230
I’ve got about 2.5 weeks left until COMLEX 2 and step 2 and I just need a little better score. Here’s where I’m at UWSA 1, 60 days out - 160 NBME 9, 50 days out - 202 AMBOSS SA 30 days out - 230 NBME 10, 25 days out - 230 UWSA 2 (today), 18 days out - 230 I would love 245, but I’d be happy with 240. I had made most of my progress focusing on weaknesses but now those seem to be inconsistent. For example I got 90% on OBGYN on NBME 10 and 40% on UWSA2. What did anyone do to improve 10ish...
