Another WAMC...(what are my chances of getting into a good school?)
No, not one of those new pop-up schools. And no, I'm not aiming for top schools like USCF or something because I doubt I can go there. I'm looking for schools that don't take the PCAT, primarily Oregon State University and University of Washington since I live in the NW coast. And I am well aware of the loans, the loans is no problem to me at this point. PharmCAS GPA: 2.83 Notable GPAs - Math: 3.59 - Microbiology: 3.10 - Physics: 3.17 - Social/Behavioral Science: 4.00 ~ the rest are... University of Washington closing dept of psychiatry?
Read this article online this morning. Any word from residents or those involved in the program? Would be a major blow. I cannot post the article link because I just created this SDN account today, but it can be found at the Daily UW student newspaper, under the most popular articles section. It was the front page of yesterday’s paper. If the next poster wouldn’t mind posting the link that would be helpful. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UVA or UW
My daughter is very focused on being a research pathologist. That said, she is trying to decide on the best undergrad program. She has been accepted to University of Virginia (where we live) and University of Washington. UVA is about $30K a year for us, and has a biology program, not microbiology UW is about $55K a year for us, and has a microbiology program. My daughter wants to eventually get MD/PhD. Any advice? Should be pay the extra $100K for UW? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thoughts on PNW Residency Programs? (especially UW)
Having some difficulty with some programs on my rank list (due tomorrow, i know!!) I know there's a lot of love for unopposed family medicine programs. I have mostly unopposed, community programs ranked at the top. However, there is one 'opposed' program that is near the top of my list: University of Washington. I enjoyed the residents and interview day. Possibly would have been my #1 overall, however just about every UW medical student on the interview trail had only negative things to...
