Hospital partnership and patient outcomes among postacute patients with stroke
CONCLUSIONS: A greater number of shared patients and a more concentrated referral linkage between acute and PAC providers may reduce potential adverse outcomes in PAC patients. Instead of attaining more partners, PAC policies should encourage providers to strengthen their patient-sharing relationship with their existing PAC partners.PMID:37523454 | DOI:10.37765/ajmc.2023.89401

Disparities Across the Continuum of Lung Cancer Care
Clin Chest Med. 2023 Sep;44(3):531-542. doi: 10.1016/j.ccm.2023.03.009. Epub 2023 May 9.ABSTRACTDespite the overall decline in lung cancer incidence and mortality, minority populations continue to bear a higher disease burden. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States and disproportionately impacts minority populations. Social determinants of health-including low-socioeconomic status, lack of health insurance, and access to health care- disproportionately impact racial, ethnic, and rural populations resulting in direct consequences on lung cancer disparities.PMID:37517833 | DOI:10.1...

Medication Adherence in Patients with Hematologic Malignancies who are Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Survivors: A Qualitative Study
CONCLUSION: Facilitators and barriers to medication adherence can be physical, psychological, organizational, or social. Further, there are many aspects of the medication regimens that significantly increase patient distress. Hence, supportive interventions to improve medication adherence in patients undergoing HSCT may need to incorporate strategies to manage medication side-effects and skills to improve psychological well-being and social support.PMID:37516379 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtct.2023.07.019

Comparative risk of infections between JAK inhibitors versus TNF inhibitors among patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: This population-based cohort study on RA patients treated with JAKi or TNFi in Korea showed an exceptionally high IR of HZ in both treatment groups compared to that from Western countries, with an approximately doubled risk associated with JAKi versus TNFi use. The risk of SBI was comparable, but the risk of OI, particularly tuberculosis, was less among JAKi than TNFi initiators.PMID:37495973 | DOI:10.1186/s13075-023-03111-w
