Association between depression and chronic diseases among middle-aged and older Chinese adults
CONCLUSION: Depressive symptoms were significantly associated with chronic diseases (including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and stroke), which suggests that psychological factors, such as depressive symptoms should be taken into consideration in the prevention and control of chronic diseases.PMID:37534639

The structured ambulatory post-stroke care program for outpatient aftercare in patients with ischaemic stroke in Germany (SANO): an open-label, cluster-randomised controlled trial
This study was registered with the German Clinical Trials Register, DRKS00015322.FINDINGS: Between Jan 1, 2019 and Dec 22, 2020, 36 clusters were assessed for eligibility, of which 30 were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=15 clusters) or control group (n=15 clusters). No clusters dropped out of the study. 1203 (86%) of 1396 enrolled patients in the intervention group and 1283 (92%) of 1395 enrolled patients in the control group were included in the mITT population. Influence of chronic diseases on the occurrence of depression: A 13-year follow-up study from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe
This study aimed to explore the effects of types and number of chronic diseases on the risk of depression using data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). A self-admitted questionnaire was used to obtain data on 14 predefined chronic diseases and the European-Depression Scale (EURO-D) was used to assess depression. Among the 16,080 baseline depression-free participants aged 50+, 31.29% (5032) developed depression over 13 years. Physical health risks of middle-aged people with low social independence: fatal diseases in men, and little attendance to cancer screenings in both sexes
CONCLUSIONS: In terms of current physical health, low-social-independent men have more fatal diseases. Both sexes with low social independence seldom attend cancer screenings and have an increased risk of developing progressive cancer in the future.
