Facteurs associ és au délai d'accès à la thrombectomie mécanique dans la prise en charge des accidents vasculaires cérébraux ischémiques en Gironde, France, 2017-2018
CONCLUSIONS: The DS pathway can be shortened by generalizing access to cerebral imaging in LHCs. Optimizing pre-admission orientation toward MT is a major issue in LVOS management.PMID:36563615 | DOI:10.1016/j.respe.2022.10.009

Impact of Smoking on Functional Prognosis after Ischemic Stroke according to Deprivation: A Prospective Cohort Study
Conclusion: The effect of smoking on functional prognosis after ischemic stroke varied according to deprivation status, with poorer outcomes observed in nondeprived patients.Neuroepidemiology

Incidence and outcomes of acute cerebrovascular events: methodology of the population-based Normandy Stroke Study
Conclusion : NSS will provide important data on epidemiology and long-term consequences of stroke at the population level and will help care providers to adapt resource allocation.

Characteristics, Management, and Case-Fatality of Patients Hospitalized for Stroke with a Diagnosis of COVID-19 in France
Conclusion: Patients hospitalized for stroke with a concomitant COVID-19 diagnosis had a higher inhospital and 3 months case-fatality rates compared to patients hospitalized for stroke without a COVID-19 diagnosis. Further research is needed to better understand the excess of mortality related to these cases.Neuroepidemiology

Different Risk Profiles of European Patients Using Direct Oral Anticoagulants or Vitamin K Antagonists: a Rapid Review
AbstractPurpose of ReviewWe investigated the risk profiles of patients using direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) or vitamin K antagonists (VKA) in European cohort studies to estimate the importance of potential (measured or unmeasured) confounding factors in analyses comparing these drugs. We searched MEDLINE and EMBASE (2008 –2018) for relevant studies and extracted information on age, sex, comorbidity, Charlson comorbidity index, HAS-BLED score (assessing risk of bleeding) and CHA2DS2-VASc score (assessing risk of stroke).Recent FindingsOverall, 66 studies with 2,808,757 patients were included. Most patients were from Fr...

Stroke Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Treated with Oral Anticoagulants: Comparison of the Population-Based Stroke Registry of Dijon and the French National Health Databases
Conclusion: If administrative health databases can be a useful tool to study the epidemiology of anticoagulated AF in stroke patients, population-based stroke registries as the Dijon Stroke Registry remain essential to fully study the epidemiology of strokes with anticoagulated AF.Neuroepidemiology

Annual rate of newly treated atrial fibrillation by age and gender in France, 2010 –2016
The objective was to estimate the rate of AF patients newly treated with oral anticoagulants (OAC) in France each year between 2010 and 2016 and to describe age and gender differences. We used the French national health data system. For each year between 2010 and 2016, we identified patients aged over 20 initiating OAC. OAC indicated for the treatment of AF was determined by hospitalization diagnoses, specific procedures and registered long-term disease status, or a multiple imputation process for patients with no recorded information as to why they initiated OAC. Among the 421,453 individuals initiating OAC treatment in 2...

Economic challenges of using innovative medical devices in major public health pathologies: Example of acute ischemic stroke management by mechanical thrombectomy.
CONCLUSION: The time required to evaluate MD reimbursement files is too long compared to their development. As a result, practitioners are in difficulty to be able to carry out acts according to the consensual practices of their learned societies, without causing any financial deficit of their institutions. Impact of the Ageing Population on the Burden of Stroke: The Dijon Stroke Registry
Conclusions: Ageing and growth of the population led to a rise in the absolute number of strokes, especially in the elderly, that is expected to increase dramatically in the coming years. Improved stroke care was accompanied with an increase in stroke survivors that contributed to a rise in recurrent events. Urgent action is needed to meet this epidemiological challenge.Neuroepidemiology 2019;52:78 –85

Increasing Burden of Stroke: The Dijon Stroke Registry (1987 –2012)
Conclusions: Increasing attack rates and decreasing mortality have led to a rise in the number of stroke survivors in the population, thus indicating a growing need for the implementation of dedicated services.Neuroepidemiology 2018;50:47 –56

Health status of populations living in French overseas territories in 2012, compared with metropolitan France: An analysis of the national health insurance database.
CONCLUSION: This study highlights the utility of administrative database to compare and follow population health status considering healthcare use. Specific Public Health policies are justified for FOT, taking into account the specific context of each FOT, the necessity of prevention initiatives and screening to reduce the frequency of the chronic diseases.
