Prognostic indicators for the onset of ischaemic versus haemorrhagic stroke in stable coronary artery disease
The incidence of stroke may be increased in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). We aimed to investigate the specific risk factors for the development of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke in stable CAD patients. Patients with stable CAD were prospectively enrolled for future cardiovascular events in Taiwan. All the patients had received coronary interventions and were stable for least 1 month before enrolment. The incidence of ischaemic stroke was identified and confirmed by telephone and hospital records. Baseline characteristics, including demographic data, lipid profiles, medications, and biomarkers for pot...

Efficacy and safety of clopidogrel and/or aspirin for ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack: An overview of systematic reviews and meta-analysis
Conclusions: High-quality evidence suggested that clopidogrel plus aspirin was more efficient than monotherapy, although the risk for hemorrhagic stroke was relatively higher in combined therapy regimens lasting>1 month.

Onset and Recurrence Characteristics of Chinese Patients with Noncardiogenic Ischemic Stroke in Chinese Medicine Hospital
ConclusionsRecurrence in minor and small-artery stroke cannot be ignored. Hypertension, dyslipidemia, abnormal HbA1c, intracranial artery stenosis and carotid plaque were more common in stroke patients. Particularly, phlegm-dampness and blood stasis syndromes, as well as qi deficiency and blood stasis constitutions, were still the main manifestations of stroke. P2Y12 inhibitors plus aspirin for acute treatment and secondary prevention in minor stroke and high-risk transient ischemic attack: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Early administration of P2Y12 inhibitors plus aspirin in patients with acute non-cardioembolic minor ischemic stroke or TIA reduced the incidence of ischemic stroke recurrence, impacting more significantly than the increased bleeding risk and influencing patients' quality of life by reducing disabling stroke.PMID:35331593 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2022.03.017

Head Acupuncture Plus Schuell ’s Language Rehabilitation for Post-Stroke Aphasia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 32 Randomized Controlled Trials
ConclusionHA plus SLR was significantly associated with better language ability and higher effective rate for patients with post-stroke aphasia, and HA should be operated cautiously especially during acupuncture at eye and neck. (Registration No. CRD42020154475)

Cortical Involvement of a Recent Infarct Contralateral to Early Focal Seizures in Ischemic Stroke
Conclusion These findings suggest that recent infarcts play a role as systemic causes of acute symptomatic seizures as well as an epileptogenic lesion in ischemic stroke patients with early focal seizures.PMID:36223921 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.0120-22

Naoxintong Capsule for Secondary Prevention of Ischemic Stroke: A Multicenter, Randomized, and Placebo-Controlled Trial
ConclusionThe combination of Naoxintong Capsule with standard care reduced the 2-year stroke recurrence rate in patients with ischemic stroke without increasing the risk of severe hemorrhage in high-risk patients. (Trial registration No. NCT02334969)

Successful use of therapeutic anticoagulation therapy in two patients with moderate stroke from the second day of onset: A case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: As a result of this case report, clinical improvement has not been associated with hemorrhagic sequelae of anticoagulant administration on the first day. At this point, we recommend conducting a trial to study the effect of early application of anticoagulants from the first day on clinical outcome, recurrence, and hemorrhagic transfusion of stroke.PMID:36268411 | PMC:PMC9577847 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104726

Dysphagia and associated factors among patients with acute ischemic stroke in Vietnam
CONCLUSION: Our study showed that the prevalence of dysphagia is high among patients with acute ischemic stroke in Vietnam. Intervention solutions should focus more on patient groups of higher age group, brainstem stroke, communication disorder and facial paralysis.PMID:36536715 | PMC:PMC9758358 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104887
