Annual Endovascular Thrombectomy Case Volume and Thrombectomy-capable Hospitals of Korea in Acute Stroke Care
CONCLUSIONS: The 1-year CFR was significantly reduced when EVT candidates were treated at TCHs. TCHs are not defined based solely on the number of EVTs, but also based on the presence of a stroke unit and stroke specialists. This supports the need for TCH certification in Korea and suggests that annual EVT case volume could be used to qualify TCHs.PMID:37055356 | PMC:PMC10111097 | DOI:10.3961/jpmph.22.318

Instrument development and validation of the stroke pre-hospital delay behavior intention scale in a Chinese urban population
Conclusions: This SPDBI scale is a reliable, and valid measure of the likeliness of pre-hospital delay in high-risk stroke patients and their family members. It may provide scientific assessment for targeted health education intervention.

Processes and outcomes of ischemic stroke care: the influence of hospital level of care
Conclusions Outcomes among patients with ischemic stroke can be improved by thrombolytic therapy, antithrombotic therapy, statin treatment and rehabilitation assessment. Among patients with ischemic stroke, admission to designated stroke center hospitals may be associated with lower mortality through better processes of care.

Comparison of the validity of stroke diagnoses in a medical quality register and an administrative health register.
CONCLUSIONS: The Norwegian Stroke Register and the Norwegian Patient Register are adequately complete and correct to serve as valuable sources of data for epidemiological, clinical and healthcare studies, as well as for administrative purposes. PMID: 26660300 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Heat stroke: knowledge and practices of medical professionals in pediatric emergency medicine departments – a survey study
Conclusions: The present study exposes weaknesses in HCW knowledge, PED resources, and published PED policies for appropriate management of children following heat stroke. Our finding emphasizes the importance of both certificated PEM physicians attendance and simulation performance for implementing proper management of patients with heat stroke. A policy change should be performed among the Israeli PED community, with respect to establishing and implementing guidelines for treatment of exertional heat stroke. A future study, following an interventional simulation program is planned to be performed.

Outdoor air pollution, subtypes and severity of ischemic stroke - a small-area level ecological study
We examined associations between outdoor PM10 and NO2 concentrations modeled at a fine spatial resolution and etiological and clinical ischemic stroke subtypes and severity of ischemic stroke. Methods: We used a small-area level ecological study design and a stroke register set up to capture all incident cases of first ever stroke (1995-2007) occurring in a defined geographical area in South London (948 census output areas; population of 267839). Modeled PM10 and NO2 concentrations were available at a very fine spatial scale (20 meter by 20 meter grid point resolution) and were aggregated to output area level using postcod...

Assessment of Stroke Risk in Southern Arizona, the Pairing of Acculturation and Stroke Risk Factor Development
Abstract Stroke is a leading cause of mortality in the United States. Hispanics have the same incidence of stroke, but are more likely to have subsequent strokes than non-Hispanic whites. This difference in outcome may be attributable to differences in stroke risk factor awareness. Patients at a community health center in Tucson, AZ completed an anonymous survey regarding existing and perceived health issues. Patient responses were compared in terms of ethnicity and acculturation, as indicated by language preference. Patient responses (n = 301, Spanish: 150, English: 151) indicated that proportionately fewer no...

Multifactorial Analysis of Factors Affecting Recurrence of Stroke in Japan
Data on factors affecting stroke recurrence are relatively limited. The authors examined potential factors affecting stroke recurrence, retrospectively. The study participants were 1087 patients who were admitted to stroke centers suffering from first-ever ischemic stroke and returned questionnaires with usable information after discharge. The authors analyzed the association between clinical parameters of the patients and their prognosis. Recurrence rate of during an average of 2 years after discharge was 21.3%, and there were differences among stroke subtypes. It was found that the disability level of the patients after ...
