Association between thrombus composition and stroke etiology in the MR CLEAN Registry biobank
ConclusionThrombus composition is significantly associated with stroke etiology, with an increase in RBC and a decrease in F/P raising the odds for a non-cardioembolic cause. No difference between composition of cardioembolic thrombi and of undetermined origin was seen. This emphasizes the need for more extensive monitoring for arrhythmias and/or extended cardiac analysis in case of an undetermined origin.

Infarct Evolution in Patients with Anterior Circulation Large-Vessel Occlusion Randomized to IV Alteplase and Endovascular Treatment versus Endovascular Treatment Alone INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: No statistically significant difference in infarct evolution was found in directly admitted patients who received IV alteplase and endovascular treatment within 4.5 hours of symptom onset versus patients who underwent endovascular treatment alone. Collateral status and occlusion location may be useful predictors of infarct evolution prognosis in patients eligible for IV alteplase who underwent endovascular treatment.

Unsupervised Deep Learning for Stroke Lesion Segmentation on Follow-up CT Based on Generative Adversarial Networks FUNCTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: An unsupervised generative adversarial network can be used to obtain automated infarct lesion segmentations with a moderate Dice similarity coefficient and good volumetric correspondence.

Diagnostic reference levels and median doses for common clinical indications of CT: findings from an international registry
ConclusionsDRLs for CTDIvol and DLP for EUCLID clinical indications from diverse organizations were established and can contribute to dose optimization. These values were usually significantly higher in the US than in Europe.Key Points•Registry data were used to create benchmarks for 10 common indications for CT identified by the European Society of Radiology.•Observed US radiation doses were higher than European for 9 of 10 indications (except chronic sinusitis).•The presented diagnostic reference levels and median doses highlight potentially unnecessary variation in radiation dose.

Prediction of long-term recurrent ischemic stroke: the added value of non-contrast CT, CT perfusion, and CT angiography
ConclusionData from CT imaging significantly improved the discriminatory performance and reclassification in predicting ischemic stroke recurrence beyond a model incorporating clinical risk factors only.

Validation of automated Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) software for detection of early ischemic changes on non-contrast brain CT scans
ConclusionThe performance of automated ASPECTS is comparable to expert readers and could support readers in the detection of early ischemic changes.

Effect of Heparinized Flush Concentration on Safety and Efficacy During Endovascular Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke: Results from the  MR CLEAN Registry
ConclusionEffect of heparin in flush fluids should not be ignored by clinicians or researchers as higher concentrations may be associated with higher rates of ICH. The observed variation in protocols regarding heparin concentrations between EVT centers should encourage further studies, ideally in a controlled way, resulting in recommendations on heparin use in flush fluids in future guidelines.

CT Scanning in Suspected Stroke or Head Trauma: Is it Worth Going the Extra Mile and Including the Chest to Screen for COVID-19 Infection? ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: The sensitivity of additional chest CT is fairly high. However, a negative result does not exclude COVID-19. The positive predictive value is poor. Correlation of chest CT results with epidemiologic history and clinical presentation, along with real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, is needed for confirmation.

Radiology workload in clinical implementation of thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke: experience from The Netherlands
ConclusionOur study estimated the number of stroke patients undergoing CTA for suspected LVO and those eligible for thrombectomy in relation to the population. Numbers were essentially the same throughout the week, and during office and on-call hours. Our data can be used to make adequate staffing plans.

Balloon Guide Catheter in Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke: Results from the MR CLEAN Registry
ConclusionsIn clinical practice, use of a BGC was associated with higher reperfusion grade and early improvement of neurologic deficits, but had no positive effect on long-term functional outcome.

Effect of sildenafil on maternal hemodynamics in pregnancies complicated by severe early-onset fetal growth restriction: planned subgroup analysis from a multicenter randomized placebo-controlled double-blind trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Sildenafil in a dose of 25 mg three times daily increases HR, reduces BP and reduces arterial stiffness in pregnancies complicated by FGR. These changes are modest, consistent with the anticipated vasodilatory effect and their clinical impact on the mother and baby, in both the short- and long-term, remains uncertain. Flow Patterns in Carotid Webs: A Patient-Based Computational Fluid Dynamics Study EXTRACRANIAL VASCULAR
CONCLUSIONS: Carotid webs are associated with increased recirculation zones and regional increased wall shear stress metrics that are associated with disturbed flow. These findings suggest that a carotid web might stimulate thrombus formation, which increases the risk of acute ischemic stroke.
