Novel TIA biomarkers identified by mass spectrometry ‐based proteomics
ConclusionsUtilizing mass spectrometry‐based proteomics, platelet basic protein has been identified as a candidate serum biomarker for transient ischemic attack. This unbiased proteomic approach may be a promising method to identify novel biomarkers to more precisely diagnose transient ischemic attacks.

Quality of In-Hospital Stroke Care in Veterans Affairs Hospitals (P5.146)
Conclusions: Veterans who develop an in-hospital stroke receive similar quality of care as patients presenting to the ED although fewer in-hospital patients had dysphagia screening. Interestingly, tPA eligibility and utilization were higher for in-hospital strokes although utilization did not reach significance. Significance of Periclot MMP-9 in Ischemic Stroke Patients Undergoing Intra-arterial Interventions (P4.303)
CONCLUSIONS: Decreased periclot MMP-9 may be predictive of HT after ischemic stroke, contrasting with previous work demonstrating elevated peripheral MMP-9 as predictive of HT. Increased periclot MCP-4 and angiogenin expression, as well as decreased numbers of circulating monocytes, may serve as additional predictive markers of HT. Assessment of Stroke Knowledge and Attitudes among Riyadh Medical Students: A Cross-sectional Study (P2.303)
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated average medical students’ knowledge of stroke and identified knowledge gaps in different domains of basic stroke knowledge. Stroke education modules should be incorporated into the preclinical curriculum and neurology or stroke clerkships should be mandatory for all students. Anxiety influences TIA diagnosis (P7.134)
Conclusions: We found an elevated TIA-IS ratio among patients with a concurrent ICD9 code for anxiety. The ABCD2 score, assessing symptoms and vascular risk factors, is promoted as a criterion for admission; however, these data suggest that comorbid conditions such as anxiety along with demographic and hospital factors also influence TIA diagnosis. The validity and meaning of an ICD9 code for anxiety is uncertain. Internet Teaching of the Neurologic Examination and OSCE Performance in the Neurology Clerkship (s19.006)
CONCLUSIONS Using www.neuroexam.com significantly improved students’ performance on a Stroke OSCE compared to online NIHSS training, with similar trends for Headache and Neuropathy. General neurologic examination training rather than focused stroke examination training may be more helpful for students, even when examining stroke patients.
