Perioperative and long ‐term outcomes of Ross versus mechanical aortic valve replacement
ConclusionsIn this mid-term propensity score-matched analysis, the Ross procedure offers similar perioperative outcomes, freedom from reintervention or valve dysfunction as well as overall survival compared to traditional mAVR but without the morbidity associated with long-term anticoagulation. At specialized centers with sufficient expertize, the Ross procedure should be strongly considered in select patients requiring aortic valve replacement.

An altered posterior question-mark incision is associated with a reduced infection rate of cranioplasty after decompressive hemicraniectomy.
CONCLUSIONS: The primary goal of this retrospective cohort analysis was to identify adjustable risk factors to prevent post-CP complications. In this analysis, a posterior question-mark incision proved beneficial regarding infection and CP failure. The authors believe that these findings are caused by the better vascularized skin flap due to preservation of the superficial temporal artery and partial preservation of the occipital artery. In this trial, the posterior question-mark incision was identified as an easily and costless adaptable technique to reduce CP failure rates. PMID: 32330877 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cell therapy for cerebral hemorrhage: Five year follow-up report.
Authors: Chang Z, Mao G, Sun L, Ao Q, Gu Y, Liu Y Abstract The aim of the study was to examine treatment of cerebral hemorrhages with bone-marrow or human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs or Hu-MSCs) and conventional surgical approaches, and determine and compare the effectiveness, feasibility, safety and reproducibility of each method. A retrospective analysis was performed on a cohort of cell-treated cerebral hemorrhage patients from October 1, 2007 to October 1, 2009. A total of 24 patients, all of whom received conventional surgical treatment, were classified as follows: i) The control group...

Neurological complications in renal transplant patients: A single-center experience
Conclusion We conclude that complications involving the neurological system occur in 10.5% of all transplant patients with 8% involving CNS and 7% involving the PNS. The high mortality rates associated with CNS complications warrant early diagnosis and aggressive treatment in renal transplant recipients.
