Timing of Tracheostomy in Patients with Intracerebral Haemorrhage: A Propensity-Matched Analysis
CONCLUSION: We recommend ET for high-risk patients with ICH. Although ET cannot reduce in-hospital mortality or improve patient prognosis, it may help reduce hospital costs and ICU LOS as well as the use of antibiotics, sedatives and muscle relaxants.PMID:36125838 | DOI:10.2174/1567202619666220920122935

An exploratory descriptive cohort study of 90-day prognosis after acute ischaemic stroke with mechanical thrombectomy
CONCLUSION: Almost half of the surviving patients had a poor prognosis. In our country, this surgery and rehabilitation impose a significant financial burden that needs to be addressed. However, the longer length of hospital stay and higher costs at discharge may be contributing factors to worse outcomes. The outcomes of comprehensive nursing assessment of the patients, including nursing needs, activities of daily living, and neurological function, can predict their outcome.IMPACT STATEMENT: We recommend a comprehensive nursing assessment at discharge that predicts patient outcomes and can be used for subsequent targeted i...

Oxygen Saturation and Postoperative Mortality in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke Treated by Endovascular Thrombectomy
CONCLUSIONS: GA was associated with a higher Spo2 compared to MAC among those treated by endovascular thrombectomy for AIS. Spo2 values that were higher than the middle tertile were associated with higher odds of mortality. However, GA was not significantly associated with higher odds of death. Spo2 at most constituted a modest mediator role in explaining the relationship between GA versus MAC and mortality.PMID:34609988 | DOI:10.1213/ANE.0000000000005763
