ConclusionA significant proportion of IE episodes following TAVR occurs within a few weeks following the procedure and are associated with dismal outcomes. Some baseline and TAVR procedural factors were associated with VE-IE, andStaphylococcus aureus and enterococci were the main causative pathogens. Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in Nonagenarians: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: TAVR in nonagenarians is an effective and safe procedure, with encouraging outcomes given the general life expectancy of these patients. Currently, only selected nonagenarians are undergoing TAVR, but their number will grow as life expectancy continues to increase in the developed world. CONCLUSIONS: MIAVR through ministernotomy provides at least as good long-term survival as FSAVR. Nevertheless, it should be recommended for diabetic, poor mobility patients with pre-existing AF in order to reduce their high cerebrovascular risk and to limit the progression of HF.
