Abstract 244: Revision of the Consent Form for Coronary Angiography Procedures Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusion: In a representative assessment of coronary angiography and PCI outcomes, some major complications are higher that those reported in international literature. Significant access site bleeding was low, likely explained by the high prevalence of radial procedures. Future iterations of the patient information sheet and consent form may be improved by providing personalized risks.

Red blood cell transfusion in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction-a  meta-analysis of more than 21,000 patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Red blood cell transfusion increases the morbidity and mortality in patients with STEMI. This difference could not be explained by the higher morbidity in the red blood cell transfusion group alone. Further randomised controlled trials are required to provide a reliable haemoglobin threshold for these patients. PMID: 30039381 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

79-Year-Old Man With Shortness of Breath and Fevers
A 79-year old man with a history of myocardial infarction and coronary artery bypass grafting in 2000, biventricular systolic heart failure with an ejection fraction of 27%, hypertension, persistent atrial fibrillation for which he was taking high-dose aspirin given a previous history of hemorrhagic stroke, stage 3 chronic kidney disease, left cerebellar ischemic stroke, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) placement 5 years previously presented to his local medical facility with a 2-day history of breathlessness, fevers, and chills.

A Systematic Review of Direct Cardiovascular Event Costs: An International Perspective
ConclusionsThere was considerable unexplained variation in contemporary costs for all major cardiovascular events. One emerging theme was that average costs in the USA were considerably higher than anywhere else.

Impact of left ventricular ejection fraction on clinical outcomes after left main coronary artery revascularization: results from the randomized EXCEL trial
ConclusionIn the EXCEL trial, the composite rate of death, stroke or myocardial infarction at 3  years was significantly higher in patients with HFrEF compared with HFmrEF or preserved LVEF, driven by an increased rate of all‐cause death. No significant differences after PCI vs. CABG were observed among patients with HFrEF, HFmrEF and preserved LVEF. Longer‐term follow‐up could provide important insights on differences in clinical outcomes that might emerge over time.Clinical Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov IDNCT01205776.

Impact of Atherogenic Indexes in Saphenous Vein Graft Stenosis
Conclusion AIP and AC were independent predictors of SVG stenosis. Moreover, both AIP and AC have better performance in predicting SVG stenosis than LDL-C, HDL-C and non-HDL-C. (Arq Bras Cardiol. 2020; 115(3):538-544)

Cost-effectiveness of follow-up invasive coronary angiography after percutaneous coronary stenting: a real-world observational cohort study in Japan
Conclusions FUICA increased the costs but did not improve clinical benefits. Thus, FUICA is not economically more attractive than CF alone. Trial registration number UMIN000039768.

Effects of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting on Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Reduced Ejection Fraction Heart Failure and Coronary Heart Disease: A Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The mortality rates of PCI and CABG were similar in patients with CHD complicated with HFrEF. Compared with PCI, CABG had a lower incidence of MACE, MI, HF, and revascularization, and a higher incidence of stroke or TIA.PMID:36856505 | DOI:10.1532/hsf.5169
