Impact of stroke on outcomes following cardiac surgery: Propensity matched analysis
ConclusionPerioperative stroke is a devastating complication following cardiac surgery. Perioperative stroke is associated with significantly inferior outcomes in terms of both morbidity and mortality. Notably a 28% reduction in 1 ‐year survival. Efforts should focus on identifying strategies aimed at reducing the incidence, morbidity, and mortality of perioperative stroke following cardiac surgery.

Endovascular thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke after cardiac surgery
ConclusionWe report the largest case series of EVT after cardiac surgery. EVT can be associated with excellent outcomes in these patients. Close neurological monitoring postoperatively to identify patients who may benefit from intervention is key.

Prediction of stroke reconvalescence after coronary bypass surgery indicated by CT scan parameters
ConclusionBoth the ARWMC and MRVRS were found to be appropriate. They reliably discriminate the groups of stroke patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)  in the analysis of CCT images. When applied at the onset of neurological symptoms both scales are able to predict neurological reconvalescence upon hospital dismission. The ARWMC scale appeared superior as it demonstrated better accuracy and discrimination. The use of both VRS in patients with sus pected stroke after CABG surgery can give insightful information toward a progression of neurological dysfunction or postoperative improvement.

Stroke after coronary artery bypass surgery: Can we predict full neurological recovery?
AbstractPostoperative stroke is a rare but feared complication after cardiac surgery. The clinical presentation and the evolution of postoperative stroke associated with bypass surgery are extremely heterogeneous and depend on multiple factors, which are not always easy to identify. Computed tomography scan parameters like visual rating scales,  in particular, the age-related white matter changes and Mendes Ribero visual rating scale scores, could be used to predict postoperative stroke reconvalescence. Being reproducible and quickly appliable in everyday clinical practice, their implementation results are easy. Further ...

Neurological outcomes after on ‐pump vs off‐pump CABG in patients with cerebrovascular disease
ConclusionsIn patients with a previous TIA or stroke, off ‐pump CABG is associated with a reduced risk of stroke, delirium, and postoperative adverse neurological events, compared to on‐pump CABG. Patients with high neurological risk can potentially benefit from off‐pump CABG, due to an overall reduction of postoperative neurological complications.

Early and long ‐term clinical outcomes after minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass grafting versus off‐pump coronary surgery via sternotomy in isolated proximal left anterior descending artery disease: A propensity score matching analysis
ConclusionsShort ‐term as well as long‐term outcomes of MIDCAB in terms of mortality, MI, stroke, and target vessel revascularization are satisfactory and as safe and effective as OPCAB via sternotomy.

Systematic review and meta ‐analysis of staged vs simultaneous coronary artery bypass grafting surgery and carotid endarterectomy
Conclusion: The results from this study favors staged CEA with CABG with lower incidence of postoperative stroke, operative, and 30 ‐day mortality. A larger study, ideally a randomized controlled trial, is required to address the superiority of each technique.

Concomitant severe carotid and coronary artery diseases: a separate management or concomitant approach
Conclusion: The results from this study favors staged CEA with CABG with lower incidence of postoperative stroke, operative, and 30 ‐day mortality. A larger study, ideally a randomized controlled trial, is required to address the superiority of each technique.

Predicting early mortality following single ‐stage coronary artery or valve surgery and carotid endarterectomy
ConclusionsConsidering that postoperative stroke rate and mortality was acceptably low, single-stage approach is an effective option in such selected high-risk patients.

Early outcomes following isolated coronary artery bypass surgery: Influence of peripheral artery disease
ConclusionsThe presence of peripheral arterial disease increases the incidence of postoperative stroke, AKD and limb ischemia requiring intervention, independent of patient characteristics, concomitant risk factors, surgical approaches, and techniques. Further larger studies are necessary to confirm our findings.

Robotically assisted coronary artery bypass graft surgery versus drug ‐eluting stents for patients with stable isolated proximal left anterior descending disease
ConclusionR ‐CABG offers lower r‐TLR rate and better angina relief compared with DES for revascularization in patients with isolated proximal LAD stenosis and there was no difference in mortality, MI, stroke, and MACCE between them.
