Neuroprotective Effects of Early Hypothermia Induced by Phenothiazines and DHC in Ischemic Stroke.
Conclusion: Both interischemia and inter-reperfusion pharmacological hypothermia treatments play a role in neuroprotection after stroke. Interischemia hypothermia treatment may be better able to induce stronger neuroprotection after ischemic stroke. This study provides a new avenue and reference for stronger neuroprotective hypothermia before vascular recanalization in stroke patients. PMID: 33531913 [PubMed]

Use of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its Impact on Medical Cost among Urban Ischemic Stroke Inpatients in China: A National Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSION: Although the use of TCM reduced the cost of conventional medicine compared with TCM nonusers, TCM imposed an extra financial component on the total inpatient cost on TCM users. Our study suggests that TCM mainly played a complementary role to conventional medicine in ischemic stroke treatment in mainland China.PMID:34745303 | PMC:PMC8570870 | DOI:10.1155/2021/8554829

Coaching-Based Teleoccupational Guidance for Home-Based Stroke Survivors and Their Family Caregivers: Study Protocol for a Superior Randomized Controlled Trial
Discussion. This trial will assess the effects of CTG compared with standard telerehabilitation. We believe that the results of this study will add to the understanding of occupational therapy for stroke survivors in home-based rehabilitation and provide a reference for developing health policy and facilitating other chronic management. Trial Registration Number. The Chinese Clinical Trial Registry ChiCTR2200061107.PMID:36045653 | PMC:PMC9423950 | DOI:10.1155/2022/9123498

Medium- and long-term efficacy of ligustrazine plus conventional medication on ischemic stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: The findings provided evidence that the combination of ligustrazine and conventional medication was medium- and long-term beneficial to the patients suffering ischemic stroke. But more RCTs of high quality are needed to further prove the efficacy and safety of using ligustrazine for ischemic stroke. PMID: 24660601 [PubMed - in process]

Effects of motor imagery on walking function and balance in patients after stroke: A quantitative synthesis of randomized controlled trials.
CONCLUSION: MI appears to be a beneficial intervention for stroke rehabilitation. Nonetheless, existing evidence regarding the effects of MI in patients after stroke remains inconclusive because of significantly statistical heterogeneity and methodological flaws identified in the included studies. More large-scale and rigorously designed RCTs in future research with sufficient follow-up periods are needed to provide more reliable evidence on the effects of MI in post-stroke patients. Role of Antiplatelet Therapy in Stroke Prevention in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation.
Authors: Manaktala R, Kluger J Abstract Patients with atrial fibrillation are at increased risk of having a cardioembolic stroke. The use of oral anticoagulation is now well established to prevent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation and a CHA2DS2-VASc (congestive heart failure, hypertension, age ≥75 years [2 points], diabetes mellitus, prior stroke/transient ischemic attack or thromboembolism [2 points], vascular disease, age 65 to 74 years, and sex category) score of greater than 1, beyond sex. However, the role of antiplatelet therapy, specifically aspirin in low-risk patients or as an alternative to o...
