PET imaging of ischemic brain stroke necrosis with novel agent 18F-Fluoroglucaric Acid
Conclusions: Results show that FGA has a potential to enable extremely sensitive and high resolution neuroimaging of brain infarcts. F-18-labeled FGA can be rapidly synthesized from ubiquitously available F-18-FDG in a simple reaction.

In Vivo Quantification of Cerebral Translocator Protein Binding in Humans Using 6-Chloro-2-(4'-123I-Iodophenyl)-3-(N,N-Diethyl)-Imidazo1,2-aPyridine-3-Acetamide SPECT
Conclusion: As demonstrated within a group of stroke and GBM patients, 123I-CLINDE SPECT can be used for quantitative assessment of TSPO expression in vivo. Because of the absence of a region devoid of TSPO, reference tissue models should be used with caution. The 2-tissue-compartment kinetic analysis of a 90-min dynamic scan with arterial blood sampling is recommended for the quantification of 123I-CLINDE binding with SPECT.

Clinical implications for Translocator Protein (TSPO) imaging using 123ICLINDE SPECT: A feasible approach
Conclusions The preliminary results imply that [123I]CLINDE-SPECT is a feasible approach for TSPO imaging in neurological disorders associated with microglial activation and/or increased TSPO expression. The development of methods that do not need arterial blood sampling for quantification of TSPO will be important to ease implementation in a daily clinical setting. Further clinical studies are needed to determine the precise role of TSPO imaging in predicting clinical outcome and treatment response.

Conclusion: We review thyroid gland physiology and describe a systemic overview of potential false positive and false negative lack of uptake of radioiodine in the whole body along with illustrations and cases. By understanding the physiology and characteristics of radioiodine uptake and correlating with anatomical imaging, biochemical data, and clinical findings, physicians can be more confident in establishing proper management for patients with DTC using radioiodine whole body scans. Conclusions: Central nervous system: About 25% of SCD patients are affected by vascular involvement of central nervous system. CT scan has been used to detect cerebral infarction. Subclinical cranial MRI lesions yield important predictive values as a risk factor of stroke, even when detected in asymptomatic patients. Early detection of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity using the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) targeted radiotracer, 99mTc-RP805.
Conclusions Increases in myocardial MMP activity precede clinically used echocardiographic indices for early detection of cardiotoxicity, including ejection fraction and global myocardial strain. Therefore, 99mTc-RP805 may serve as a promising approach for early detection of DOX-induced cardiotoxicity when combined with SPECT/CT imaging.

Imaging of Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption by Tc-99m-Tilmanocept Molecular Imaging of a Rodent Model of Traumatic Brain Injury
Conclusions: These results are consistent with the hypothesis that microglial cells bearing CD206 trap fluorescent-labeled Tc-99m-tilmanocept in regions of BBB disruption. This provides the motivation for a clinical trial of intra-venously administered Tc-99m-tilmanocept with the goal of developing a SPECT/CT protocol for the detection of neuro-inflammation.

Detection of Apoptosis with 99mTc rh Annexin-V 128 Imaging in Asymptomatic Patients with Carotid Atherosclerotic Plaque
Conclusions: 99mTc-rhAnnexin V-128 imaging is safe with no observed adverse events or lab result changes. 99mTc-rhAnnexin V-128 imaging of apoptosis is feasible with excellent image quality at one and 2 hours following tracer injection. Significant focal uptake was identified in 1/12 patients and none of the 5 controls. Quantitative analysis of the planar images showed significantly greater uptake of annexin in patients compared to controls for both carotid arteries and at one and two hours.

Rates of Referral to Coronary Angiography After Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI)
Conclusions: About 1 in 5 patients undergoing PET MPI are referred for coronary angiography within 90 days of testing, a rate greater than that reported for SPECT MPI, likely due to higher baseline risk of patients undergoing PET MPI testing. While referral rates for coronary angiography varied based on the presence or absence of prior documented clinical CAD and presence of test abnormalities, nearly 36% of patients with moderate-severe ischemia were not referred. Further work is needed to characterize why such patients are not referred for invasive evaluation to optimize the use of PET MPI in this high-risk population.

Value of SPECT/CT over planar imaging during Tc-99m MDP triple phase bone scintigraphy for detection of osteomyelitis in patients with stage IV pressure ulcers
Conclusion: SPECT/CT imaging has a significant added diagnostic value over planar imaging in accurately detecting osseous involvement with stage IV pressure ulcers. It significantly reduced equivocal results by accurate uptake localization, reducing false positive results due to other associated pathologies and reducing false negative results due to overlap by other structures or difficult patient positioning.
