The authors describe observations from the 27 teaching hospitals constituting the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) cohort in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative. CMMI introduced BPCI in August 2011 and selected the first set of participants in January 2013. BPCI participants enter into Medicare payment arrangements for episodes of care for which they take financial risk. In ‐hospital outcomes of transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in non‐teaching hospitals
ConclusionsTAVR conferred similar in ‐hospital mortality and major peri‐procedural complications compared with SAVR in non‐teaching hospitals. For those with limited access to teaching hospitals, non‐teaching hospitals appear to be a reasonable option for candidates of aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis.

Temporal Trends and Outcomes of Elective Thoracic Aortic Repair and Acute Aortic Syndromes in Bicuspid Aortic Valves: Insights from a National Database
ConclusionData from a national database showed no change in the number of hospitalizations for BAV-related aortopathy, with relatively lower incidence of AAS. Compared with TAV, elective aortic repair for BAV is associated with lower mortality, while BAV-related AAS is associated with higher in-hospital complications.

Outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement at teaching versus nonteaching hospitals
ConclusionWith the evolution and expansion of TAVR to nonteaching centers, mortality, and readmission rates are not significantly different between nonteaching and teaching hospitals. Higher unadjusted in-hospital mortality at teaching centers suggest these centers more often treat high risk patients with associated increased complications.
