Transcranial direct current stimulation combined with bodyweight support-tai chi footwork for motor function of stroke survivors: a study protocol of randomised controlled trial
This study will be an assessor-blinded randomised controlled trial involving 12-week intervention and 6-month follow-up. One hundred and thirty-five individuals with stroke will be randomly divided in a ratio of 1:1:1 into three groups. Control group A, control group B and intervention group C will receive tDCS and conventional rehabilitation programmes (CRPs), BWS-TC and CRP, tDCS-BWS-TC and CRP for 12 weeks, respectively. Effects of integrated action and sensory observation therapy based on mirror neuron and embodied cognition theory on upper limb sensorimotor function in chronic stroke: a study protocol for a randomised controlled trial
This study protocol aims to explore the effectiveness and neural mechanism of the integration of action observation therapy (AOT) and sensory observation therapy (SOT) for post-stroke patients on upper limb sensorimotor function.
Methods and analysis
This is a single-centre, single-blind, randomised controlled trial. The Rationalisation of Intra-Operative Imaging During Cardiac Surgery: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: Current data have shown EUS to have superiority over manual palpation and transoesophageal echocardiography in the prevention of CVAs following cardiac surgery. Yet, EUS has not been implemented as a routine standard of care. ASOC Osuntokun Award Lecture 2022: Partnership for stroke prevention and treatment in Africa: Qualitative research processes and findings
Africa has one of the highest rates of stroke and stroke deaths in the world. The burden of stroke is increasing with a 3-year mortality rate of up to 84%. Stroke disproportionately affects the young and middle-aged population contributing to morbidity and mortality affecting families, communities, health systems, and economic progress. My objectives of the 2022 Osuntokun Award Lecture at the African Stroke Organization Conference were to explore our qualitative research findings from our communities and to propose future qualitative methods for improving stroke outcomes in Africa.

Effectiveness of cerebellar vermis intermittent theta-burst stimulation in improving trunk control and balance function for patients with subacute stroke: a randomised controlled trial protocol
This study will be a prospective single-centre double-blind randomised controlled clinical trial with a 3-week intervention and 3-week follow-up. Eligible participants will be randomly allocated to the experimental group or the control group in a 1:1 ratio. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma agonists for preventing recurrent stroke and other vascular events in people with stroke or transient ischaemic attack
CONCLUSIONS: Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma agonists probably reduce recurrent stroke and total events of cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction or non-fatal stroke, and may improve insulin sensitivity and the stabilisation of carotid plaques. Their effects on adverse events are uncertain. Our conclusions should be interpreted with caution considering the small number and the quality of the included studies.
