Combining Robotic & Assistive Technologies To Improve Outcomes: A Pilot Study Quantifying Stroke Rehabilitation
Stroke is the leading causes of long-term disability in the United States. Unfortunately, many survivors experience upper extremity (UE) impairment with few rehabilitation opportunities, secondary to a lack of voluntary muscle control. We developed a novel UE rehabilitation paradigm (TDS-HM) that uses a Tongue Drive System (TDS) to control a robotic device (HandMentor: HM), encouraging active learning through a game-like user interface. We hypothesize TDS-HM training will improve motor performance, reduce UE impairment, and improve quality of life in stroke survivors.

Comparing Poor and Favorable Outcome Prediction With Machine Learning After Mechanical Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionsOur results suggest that a prediction of poor outcome after AIS and MT could be made based on clinical baseline variables only. Speed and extent of MT did improve prediction for a favorable outcome but is not relevant for poor outcome. An MR mismatch with small ischemic core and larger penumbral tissue showed no predictive importance.

Diagnostic model constructed by nine inflammation-related genes for diagnosing ischemic stroke and reflecting the condition of immune-related cells
ConclusionsTaken together, the diagnostic model constructed using the inflammation-related genes TNFSF10, ID1, PAQR8, OSR2, PDK4, PEX11B, TNIP1, FFAR2, and JUN exhibited high and specific diagnostic value for IS and reflected the condition of lymphocytes, monocytes, and neutrophils in the blood. The diagnostic model may contribute to the diagnosis of IS.
