Endovascular Stroke Therapy Focused on Direct Clot Aspiration Using Sofia Catheter in Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: The Contact aspiration approach with SOFIA catheters as a first-line device appears to be fast, safe, and effective. Our results were comparable to the findings of other series. In the case of insufficient response on contact aspiration, we could easily modify the SOFIA catheter approach for an additional stent retriever rescue treatment.PMID:35179729 | DOI:10.5137/1019-5149.JTN.34409-21.3

Evaluation of burden and depression among caregivers of turkish stroke patients with percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy feeding tube
Rationale: Clinical studies have shown the contribution of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) feeding after stroke in terms of improving nutritional status and reducing mortality. Using percutaneous gastrostomies to feed patients with stroke is commonly perceived as a chronic stressor, and caregivers may experience negative psychological effects on their daily lives. The aim of this study is to evaluate the burden and depression among Turkish caregivers of ischemic stroke patients feeding with percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy and orally.

Investigation of the relationship between ischemic stroke and endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene polymorphisms G894T, intron 4 VNTR and T786C
Conclusion: Our findings indicate that the eNOS G894T and T786C [rs2070744] polymorphisms are not associated with the risk of ischemic stroke, whereas the intron 4 [27-bpTR] VNTR may be a risk factor in the Anatolian population. PMID: 30997974 [PubMed - in process]

Peripheral axonal excitability in hemiplegia related to subacute stroke.
CONCLUSION: The lower motor neurons were affected at the level of axonal channels as a result of upper motor neuron lesion. It can be due to dying back neuropathy, homeostasis and neurovascular regulation changes in the axonal environment, activity dependant plastic changes, loss of drive coming from the central nervous system or the combination of these factors. Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Patients with Dysphagia: A Delphi-Based Consensus Study of Experts in Turkey-Part II: Rehabilitation
AbstractDysphagia is one of the most common and important complications of stroke. It is an independent marker of poor outcome following acute stroke and it continues to be effective for many years. This consensus-based guideline is not only a good address to clinical questions in practice for the clinical management of dysphagia including management, diagnosis, follow-up, and rehabilitation methods, but also includes detailed algorithms for these topics. The recommendation paper has been written by a multidisciplinary team and offers 117 recommendations for stroke patients with dysphagia. While focusing on management prin...

An investigation of the factors that influence functional improvement in stroke rehabilitation
CONCLUSIONS: Results show that functional improvement after rehabilitation was better in the younger ages, shorter CVA durations and moderate functional disturbances. The findings obtained may be useful for stroke rehabilitation triage.PMID:33705646 | DOI:10.3906/sag-2101-94

Prioritization of neurologic rehabilitation interventions by ELECTRE-III analysis in subacute stroke patients
ConclusionsThe results showed that rehabilitation interventions such as Bobath-NDT and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, which are frequently used in developing countries, are still useful, and CCT is the most appropriate intervention for the transition from conventional methods to innovative models in these countries.
