Desmopressin Improves Platelet Activity in Acute Intracerebral Hemorrhage Brief Reports
Conclusions— Intravenous desmopressin was well tolerated and improved platelet activity after acute intracerebral hemorrhage. Larger studies are needed to determine its potential effects on reducing hematoma growth versus platelet transfusion or placebo. Clinical Trial Registration— URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. A case of Lemierre's syndrome causing panhypopituitarism, cavernous sinus thrombosis, ischaemic stroke and pulmonary embolism
We present the case of a previously well 19-year-old man, who presented acutely unwell with meningitis and sepsis. Fusobacterium necrophorum was isolated from peripheral blood cultures and identified on cerebrospinal fluid with 16S rDNA Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Imaging demonstrated internal jugular vein thrombosis with subsequent cavernous venous sinus thrombosis. Pituitary function tests were suggestive of panhypopituitarism. The patient was diagnosed with Lemierre's syndrome complicated by meningitis, cavernous sinus thrombosis, base of skull osteomyelitis, ischaemic stroke and panhypopituitarism. He was treated ...

Chronic complications and quality of life of patients living with sickle cell disease and receiving care in three hospitals in Cameroon: a cross-sectional study
ConclusionsIn this population of patients living with SCD, chronic complications are frequent and their QOL is consequently poor. Our results highlight the need for national guidelines for SCD control, which should include new-born screening programs and strategies to prevent chronic complications.

Recent applications of Kampo treatment for neurological diseases
ConclusionKampo medicine is being applied in new and effective ways to treat various neurological diseases. Hopefully, more clinicians will recognize the usefulness of such Kampo medicines and utilize them in their daily practice.

Pharmacological interventions for the prevention of bleeding in people undergoing definitive fixation or joint replacement for  hip, pelvic and long bone fractures
CONCLUSIONS: We cannot draw conclusions from the current evidence due to lack of data. Most published studies included in our analyses assessed the use of tranexamic acid (compared to placebo, or using different routes of administration). We identified 27 prospectively registered ongoing RCTs (total target recruitment of 4177 participants by end of 2023).
