Opioid Use and Its Relationship to Cardiovascular Disease and Brain Health: A Presidential Advisory From the American Heart Association
Circulation. 2021 Aug 19:CIR0000000000001007. doi: 10.1161/CIR.0000000000001007. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe misuse of opioids continues to be epidemic, resulting in dependency and a recent upsurge in drug overdoses that have contributed to a significant decrease in life expectancy in the United States. Moreover, recent data suggest that commonly used opioids for the management of pain may produce undesirable pharmacological actions and interfere with critical medications commonly used in cardiovascular disease and stroke; however, the impact on outcomes remains controversial. The American Heart Association developed...

Association between CRP/Albumin ratio and long-term mortality in patients with cHronIc Limb-threatening ischemia undergoing EndovaScular therapy Below The Knee: The ACHILES-BTK Registry
CONCLUSIONS: CAR was associated with mortality in CLTI patients undergoing EVT for BTK lesions. CAR may be a simple method to help patient selection, assessment, and intervention strategy for EVT and may improve patient outcomes.PMID:34896550 | DOI:10.1016/j.avsg.2021.11.008

The safety of morphine use in acute coronary syndrome: a meta-analysis

Patient characteristics and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction presenting without ischemic pain: Insights from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study
CONCLUSIONS: Future research should focus on differences in treatment delay across ischemic pain presentations rather than sex differences in acute coronary syndrome presentation.PMID:36713888 | PMC:PMC9879363 | DOI:10.1016/j.ahjo.2022.100239

One-Year Outcome of Patients with Chest Pain in the Rule-Out Group According to the 0-Hour/1-Hour Algorithm
Int Heart J. 2023;64(4):590-595. doi: 10.1536/ihj.23-076.ABSTRACTThe European Society of Cardiology recommends the 0/1-hour algorithm for risk stratification of patients with suspected non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction as class I, level B; however, there are few reports on the long-term prognosis, resulting in a rule-out group. We aimed to determine whether implementation of the 0-hour/1-hour algorithm is safe and effective in emergency department (ED) patients with possible acute coronary syndrome (ACS) through a 1-year follow-up period. Our study analyzed the 1-year follow-up data from a prospective pre-post study o...
