Effects of acupuncture on cardiovascular risks in patients with hypertension: a Korean cohort study.
CONCLUSION: This observational study with long-term follow-up extends the evidence base in support of the effectiveness of acupuncture for the management of hypertension and potentially reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease. PMID: 32567334 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Evidence Base of Clinical Studies on Qi Gong: A Bibliometric Analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Qigong research publications have been increasing gradually. Reports on study types, participants, Qigong Intervention, and outcomes are diverse and inconsistent. There is an urgent need to develop a set of reporting standards for various interventions of Qigong. Further trials of high methodological quality with sufficient sample size and real world studies are needed to verify the effects of Qigong in health and disease management. Pharmacological interventions for painful sickle cell vaso-occlusive crises in adults.
CONCLUSIONS: This review identified only nine studies, with insufficient data for all pharmacological interventions for analysis. The available evidence is very uncertain regarding the efficacy or harm from pharmacological interventions used to treat pain related to sickle cell VOC in adults. This area could benefit most from more high quality, certain evidence, as well as the establishment of suitable registries which record interventions and outcomes for this group of people. Moxibustion for prehypertension and stage I hypertension: a pilot randomized controlled trial
ConclusionIn conclusion, the results of this study show that moxibustion (3 sessions/week for 4 weeks) might lower blood pressure in patients with prehypertension or stage I hypertension and treatment frequency might affect effectiveness of moxibustion in BP regulation. Further randomized controlled trials with a large sample size on prehypertension and hypertension should be conducted.Trial Registration This study was registered with the ‘Clinical Research Information Service (CRIS)’, Republic of Korea (KCT0000469), and the protocol for this study was presented orally at the 15th International Council of Medical Acupu...

Acupuncture for hypertension.
CONCLUSIONS: At present, there is no evidence for the sustained BP lowering effect of acupuncture that is required for the management of chronically elevated BP. The short-term effects of acupuncture are uncertain due to the very low quality of evidence. The larger effect shown in non-sham acupuncture controlled trials most likely reflects bias and is not a true effect. Future RCTs must use sham acupuncture controls and assess whether there is a BP lowering effect of acupuncture that lasts at least seven days. PMID: 30480757 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Abdominal and auricular acupuncture reduces blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrated that abdominal electro-acupuncture for 6 weeks reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure and auricular acupuncture had a short-term adverse effect on both SBP and DBP. PMID: 28434467 [PubMed - in process]

Immediate effect of manual acupuncture stimulation of four points versus slow breathing in declination of blood pressure in primary hypertensive- A parallel randomized control trial
Conclusion The results of the present study suggests that yogic breathing practices decreases the systolic components of the blood pressure whereas the acupuncture group is effective in reducing the diastolic component of the blood pressure.
